If you plan to use another YMCA, we strongly recommend that you contact the YMCA first to learn more about their current policy.

The Y movement is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  We want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can.  Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace or in another region.  Now, full facility/full privilege YMCA members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout Missouri (and around the country) at no extra charge.

How it Works:

Simply present your active YMCA membership card and photo ID at any participating Missouri YMCA and enjoy free access.  See important Program Details below.

Program Details:

  • The Reciprocal Membership Program is valid for YMCA full facility/full privilege members only.

  • Visitors to other Ys must present a valid YMCA membership card and photo ID upon the first visit and may be required to complete a visiting member waiver or standard membership application form with liability waiver.

  • A member’s home branch is determined by residency, work location, and frequency of visits. YMCA full facility/full privilege members must use their home branch at least 50% of the time.

  • In most cases, program discounts will not apply.

  • Participating YMCAs reserve the right to restrict facility or program access.

  • Other restrictions may apply.

Membership at Other Branches in our Association

The Grand River Area Family YMCA is part of the Grand River Area Family YMCA, Inc., an association of YMCA’s in North Missouri including the Carroll County Area YMCA and the North Central Missouri YMCA. When you join the Grand River Area Family YMCA, you're welcome at all the YMCA’s in our association.  Facility and program discounts apply! Please note, however, that we require all YMCA members in our association to join and pay membership fees to the YMCA they use the most. When choosing your home Y, please consider where you Live, Work, and Play, understanding that you must use your home YMCA at least 50% of the time.

Some member benefits, including, but not limited to, corporate discounts, 24/7 access, and use of third-party facilities (such as the Carrollton City Pool) are restricted to your home YMCA.

Determining Your Home YMCA:

  • Residency – YMCAs have service territories. The Grand River Area Family YMCA serves Livingston, Daviess, Grundy, Chariton, and Caldwell Counties. If your home address is in one of these counties, then we are your local/home YMCA and you should be a member of the Grand River Area Family YMCA.

  • Work Location – If your employment is in a service area of another YMCA, you may join that YMCA if you prefer.

  • Frequency of Visits – Ultimately, you should be paying your membership dues to the YMCA which you frequent most often. Since YMCAs do not share their revenues, members should use their home branch at least 50% of the time.

National Reciprocity

Nationwide Membership enables you to visit any participating YMCA in the United States through membership at your home YMCA. We offer this because we want to help you reach your health and wellness goals wherever you live, work or travel. This is an essential part of our mission to strengthen communities.

• Visitors must use their home YMCA at least 50% of the time. Nationwide Membership is based on individual usage not the family unit.
• Members must sign a universal liability waiver and privacy policy. Nationwide members will be required to show a valid Y membership card.
• Program-only participants are not eligible.
• Silver Sneakers and other insurance paid memberships do not qualify.
• Registered sex offenders may not participate.

Other restrictions apply.  For more information, download the Know Before you Go resource or visit http://www.ymca.net/nationwide-membership .
